Community Services & Admissions

The BHC accepts referrals any time, 24 hours a day, for people who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis or who for other reasons may require hospitalization. Our Assessment and Referral worker on duty will assist any physician, mental-health provider, professional, family, or individual who needs help.

Admissions to BHC are based on medical necessity and may require a specific mental-health assessment and/or medical screening. Our Assessment and Referral worker will assist in making the appropriate arrangements, including referrals directly from physicians.

About our Program

It’s a sad truth that incidents of mental illness are not confined to adults. But anxiety, panic attacks, depression, even substance abuse problems can wreak havoc on people of all ages. And when the situation spirals out of control for youngsters, many families are ill-equipped to face the challenges that lie ahead. EIRMC is here to help.

Our Child Acute Care program serves pre-school and school-age patients ages 6–11. Admission to the program is based on educational, psychosocial, and psychosexual levels of functioning.

We created the program to meet your child’s and your family’s needs in our short-term, acute-care psychiatric hospital setting. If your child has been deemed to be “at risk” or dangerous to him- or herself or others, or is behaviorally disordered in a manner requiring a structured or restricted environment, we can provide treatment that can only be obtained at a high-quality inpatient facility.

Our services include diagnostic assessment of a wide variety of psycho-educational, psychosocial, psychological, and medical screening technologies. We also treat post-traumatic stress disorder, severe impulse control problems, and mood disorders/bipolar disorder or psychosis. We offer family therapy as an integral part of your child's overall treatment. Our staff is trained in Trauma Informed Care.
